Woodlant plant ID needed... Pics!

I posted on the name that plant but thought I would post here too. I am zone 5, northern Michigan and this is growing in my wooded backyard.

It looks like trailing arbutus, which is a very rare wildflower. I know it grows in Michigan because I grew up there and loved it when I was a kid exploring the woods. If it smells really sweet, that is it! I am sooooo jealous!

I agree to the ID. Ours around here bloomed almost two months ago. It is particular about habitat, and I have not been successful in growing it. Thanks for the photos.

Trailing Arbutus: Four day-hiking friends and I saw a lot of trailing arbutus growing in colonies along the McCormick Tract trail to White Deer Lake, not far from the trail head. This was last week, May 24, 2011. From U.S. 41 at the Peshekee River on the east end of Lake Michigammee, take CR 607 northwest about 12 miles to Baraga Creek and look for the trailhead on the right.
