Yellowing Pine Tree

I bought a 7ft long leaf pine (I think it is) in a 3 gallon container. It was yellow at the time of purchase, but I thought I could have brought it back by now. I planted it in the ground, watered it daily, fertilized it with some liquid Azalea food 3 times now since it listed use on yellowing pines. Can I save this tree or should I replace it? I've been working with it for close to 1 month now and have seen no noticeable results. Is there hope???

1 month isn't long enough to see results. Is there any new growth on the tree or has that time passed in Zone 9? You may have to wait until next spring to see if you've done a good job. I don't know if fertilizing 3 times in 1 month is good either. Once yellow the needles will not turn green, but new growth can come in green. You must wait for this new growth. Could you post a picture? There is a conifer forum. That may prove more helpful!

Good Luck!

RE: Yellowing Pine Tree

It is putting on new growth right now and some seems greener than others. The liquid I used said once every 2 weeks so I think I may have given it a little too much as you have stated, but "thought" it needed it. I'm no expert at Pines! :) Here is a pic but I'm not sure if you can tell much about it... it on the right and there's 3 of them pictured... only one of them is yellow and it the new one. Others have been there 6 months or so.
