Conifers for Deer?
| | |
Posted by teriss z5 NE (My Page) on Mon, May 1, 06 at 8:43
We just planted 40+ bareroot conifers around our 40 acres. They range from 12-24". We planted white pines, white spruce & serbian spruce. It's a heavily timbered area with many, many deer & turkey. We have all our young decideous trees caged for protection and were wondering if we should also cage all the conifers too? We don't presently live out there, but are planning to build in a year.
Any tips or suggestions? |

In the Pacific Northwest any conifer is food for deer. Whether or not this poses a problem for you depends entirely on the number of conifer trees you offer to them and on the number of takers (deer). Wilhelm |
