celandine native (stylophorum) and alien (chelidonium)

well you learn something new every day!

it amazes me that two plants that appear very similar can have such a huge gap in their weed status.

while battling the garlic mustard this year, I stumbled on to both of these bad-boys.

I was unaware that I was dealing with two different plants - before flowering, the leaves seemed the same.

The only difference I noticed initially were that flowers seemed larger on some of them.

Now that the seed pods are there, I can clearly see who is who.

I transplanted a bunch (both types) to one or two areas - and am now wondering if I should try to gather seeds from the native, and cut off the seed pods from the alien -

at least in the area I have "planted" them.

Would it be a bad idea to harvest the chelidonium seeds, and throw them in an area I don't tend to much, where I've cleared tons of garlic mustard?

aside from the physical differences, what makes the stylophorum so much more desireable?

thanks
