phlox in the woods?

On my run the other day, the forest floor was lightly sprinkled with some type of wild phlox. It was gorgeous, I'll attach a pic from my bad camera phone, but you get the idea (I'm south of Chicago).

I have a clump of "blue woodland phlox" that I planted in my garden a month ago, though it's not like the gorgeous stuff I saw in the woods, it's more a sprawling clumpy heap.

I thought maybe I could order some Wild Blue Phlox (Phlox divaricata) seeds that I thought I could plant at intervals around my perennial garden, since I love the look of the phlox. Is that a bad idea, or is it a different type of phlox that's in the wild? I just love the look of the delicate flowers sprinkled about. I know sometimes planting spreading plants can be worrisome, but do you think it would be alright in a perennial garden?
