Is this something I would want in my woodland area as a ground cover? Thanks

It depends on how fast and how much of it you can eat. Really. And pigs like it. But it spreads pretty easily. Any of those fleshy little leaves that break off can start new plants. Imagine your whole area covered with it. Does that sound good or bad? Maybe you can find something better? Sue

I don't think that it would thrive in a woodland setting. It's typically found in the sun.

It's considered a weed, but in my area (which probably has considerably more rainfall than yours) it is easily shaded out by other things and dies out. Even in my DH's garden it finds it difficult to persist. I like that it can be used the same way as gumbo in soups. Maybe you could ask your local extension service how much of a problem it is in your area.
