Suggestion for June shade bloomer

| I'm looking for suggestions for a late-May through June blooming perennial for an open shade bed that backs up to a woodland. I've got spring covered with the daffs, brunnera and wood poppy (along with a couple of rhododendrens and a carolina all spice) and later in the summer I have covered with the rose and angels blush campion and turtleheads.
But I haven't come up with perennials to bloom in open shade in average to poor soil (which of course I can improve) and average moisture for zone 6b/7a to provide a shot of color for the first part of summer.
Anybody have any ideas? |

| Black cohosh (Actaea racemosa) has a white spike of flowers about then. Goat's beard (Aruncus dioicus)is another plant to consider, but also white. Monarda fistulosa is usually a pale purple bloom and it grows well in part shade. Later in the year, Helianthus divaricatus might be an option for yellow flowers in the sunnier areas of the woodland. |

| Also be sure to visit the parks and nature trails around you. See what may be blooming along those that you like the looks of. If you don't know what they are, take some good pictures of the flowers and the leaves (incl. leaf arrangement) and ask for an identification on the Name that Plant forum. FataMorgana |
