| If you pick these from the ground, there will be a reddish/orange liquid oozing from the stem. Suppposedly the Indians used this for war paint and to dye baskets. My daughter has a good time "painting" herself up with these. Watch for the blooms in early spring, as they are just about the first things that bloom around here. |
