These are *poisonous* so if you have small children or pets, please make sure they don't have access to them and you may need to explain to your neighbors and their kids that they are poison and not to EVER touch them. They are quite a magnet for children and young animals due to their unusual and striking appearance. More mature animals will likely know that they are hazardous but I'd be cautious just the same.

Thanks for the heads up Barb. I guess I won't be digging out any and moving them around. I must not be sensitive to them cause I've touched them and pulled some out by the root with out any problem. Although I do usually wear gloves. My little grandson picked the 'eye balls' last year with no reaction but I'm a firm believer in 3 strikes and your out! I'll definatly be giving it, it's due respect. Thanks Em

Baneberry is not "poison" to the touch, the berries are poison to eat. You can touch and move them with no problems.

Right, that is what I meant to convey. That children and young animals are attracted to them b/c of their strange appearance and might pop one/some in their mouth. toddlers and young puppies are the most commonly poisoned by ingesting toxic plants. But even if a toddler carries around a handful of dolls eyes and then puts their fingers in their mouth or sucks their thumb they can get enough toxin to sour their stomachs or give them diarrhea.
