What should I do after making a bad cut on a tree?

I have a tree on which I needed to prune a thick high branch. Since it was about 10 yards above the ground, it was a bit tricky (I used a pole pruner attached to a couple of long sticks nailed together, which gave me only a limited amount of control and precision), so the cut went bad with a strip of bark peeled out of the main trunk. I don't think the tree will die but if there is anything I could do to help cure this cut and bark loss (like some solution to apply, or whatever else), I'll be happy to hear about it.

Thanks in advance for your comments.
