'Twisted Sister'

We have a tree in our backyard that we have been unable to identify. The trunk and branches are all twisted together, and the leaves are compound and very featherlike (almost like an olive branch). It does not flower, and it loses its leaves each winter. I've been told it may be a pecan tree, but I've never seen any nuts. Any ideas?

Could you post a picture, it might make it easier to ID.
sounds like it could be a chestnut oak?

Here is a link that might be useful: chestnut oak

What features of a chestnut oak match Jpearce's description?

I think we're gonna need a pic.
