it was found in eastern Massachusetts in a forest

Downy Rattlesnake Orchid, Goodyera pubescens. It is a native orchid.

Unusual for Mass. Good to hear though. I saw it all over the place when I hiked the Appalachian trail in Tennessee. I bought some for my garden this year.It it survives in MAss I probably don't have to worry about the winter in Ohio.
