Found this growing wild in my side yard ,does anyone know if this is an impatiens plant and do they grow wild...no one around me has any like this that I know...so I dont know what it is or where it came from...will try and put picture up now...thanks Tom

Looks like "balsam" to me. They seed profusely, and birds enjoy spreading the joy!

However, Impatiens balsamina is non-native to North America, and potentially invasive too if it seeds as profusely as the other posters suggest. (Keep in mind that "pretty flowers" do not reduce the potential invasiveness of a plant, e.g. Rosa multiflora.)

Our (eastern US) native Impatiens species are Impatiens capensis, Jewelweed and I. pallida.
