| I am hoping someone can help me identify this tree. I wasn't sure if I should post this on the tree forum but I think this is a native so I came here first. It is growing at the top of a ravine in SW Ohio. Is this a type of oak?
Thanks for the help ! |

| Looks like it could be Quercus muehlenbergii - chinkapin oak. |
Here is a link that might be useful: link to picture, distribution

| Thanks - I thought that might be it. |

| I would say chinkapin oak or Chinese chestnut. Does it produce acorns or big prickly hedgehog-like balls??? |
