Orange Mushroom-what are they?

I posted two photos in the photo gallery of Orange mushrooms I came across. I have never seen mushrooms like these and would appreciate any information.

I ‘discovered’ them Sept 20. The top of the largest ones are about 3" in diameter, the cluster is about 12" high, and they are the color of a pumpkin. The tops of the mushroom looked leathery and very smooth. They were growing against the north side a large rock, with tall grass in front of them, in mottled shade, about 5 feet in from a country road.

Thank you

Carol

They are definately not chanterelles.Look up Jack-o-lantern,Omphalotus illudens,a poisonous chanterelle look-a-like.Fresh specimens will feebly glow in the dark.
