Tips on Growing Actaea Pachypoda (Doll's Eyes/White Baneberry)

Posted by clumsygrdner 6 Central Kentucky (My Page) on

Hey everyone. I recently have some actaea seeds "baking" in the fridge and I was wondering if anyone has ever grown this plant from seed before and what their experiences were. How long did it take from seed to bloom/berry? How tolerant was it of dry soil? Are there any special tricks for growing it or can I just leave it alone and watch?

Thanks for your help!

Close enough. ;)

Self-seeding is encouraging. If only I could make sure that my area is what it likes then perhaps white BB will do just as well. How tolerant is A. Rubra of drought? In KY, we tend to get precious little rain in the summer before we are rewarded in Fall and Spring with rain.
