Or will they get messed up by not having a dormant phase?

I put my hosta inside and it hasn't grown at all in weeks. Epimedium I put in and they the leaves are all browning, from the outside edges in. I don't know what could be wrong. They get a couple or 3 hours of sunlight a day at most. Could the lack of sunlight be the problem? I thought since these were shade plants they'd be able to handle it but so far it doesn't look so great...
