Unidentified Vine/berries

Vine/berries ID
I posted this photo of an unidentified vine and berries in Great Lakes Gardeners. Nobody has been able to say what it is, so far, so I wonder if the folks here can take a look. It was found on a come-along fence at a roadside.

Thanks,

It looks like one of the Greenbriars (Smilax sp.) to me. Does it have bristles on the stems?

Definately Smilax, some have thorns, some don't.There are many species.

I agree, your photo definitely looks like Smilax. I've been trying for years to eradicate it from my family home in MA. The thorned varieties can be ferocious!

I couldn't see the berries clearly in the photo but could it be Carrion Flower (Smilax herbacea)? It's similar to greenbriar but doesn't have the briars.
