Some plants give off strange dyes from their foliage, flowers and pollen. I was shocked to see my hands turning flourescent orange with the dye that comes from Bleeding Hearts. Everything on the plant turns my hands orange including the leaves, flowers, pollen and the seeds. I don't know if that's true for everyone but I was surprised at it since the flower is pink.

I also recently found out that the dye in the Arrowood Viburnum berry is a WICKED dye. It's worse than getting your hands into copy machine ink as it's pigment is so dense it dyes deeply and stays put for at least a week. Would have been a perfect dye for colouring wool or other items in the old days though.

No idea what caused your raspberry pink dye markings/rash but it would be interesting to know if someone else from your area is familiar with something that would have caused it.

I forgot too that when I was a teenager I used to pick tomatoes on a farm and it wasn't the tomato but the green leaves on the vine that dyed my hands orange.

Dandelion roots will turn things a magenta pink colour.

The pokeweed in my land has dark juicy berries right now. I notice that since we are getting cold nights, with possible light freezes, the berries are more fragile and liquid and much darker looking. There are dark purple stains appearing on my cement driveway apparently from birds eating the pokeweed berries.
