my garden is being over run with this plant. it is a bush like plant with thorns and a small rubber ball sized yellow fruit. it doesnt look like an orange and its killing my plants.

Can you take a picture? Definitely get the fruit off it and throw it away in a bag - otherwise you'll have even more of it next year.

Sounds like it could be a member of the Solanum family.

I was going to guess Horse Nettle (S. carolinense) as well. A picture definitely would help!
