Trudi, I review books all the time for my professional group and there are no set rules. Just write about the content, what you like about it, and what audience might be interested. Don't get too detailed thought. Have fun. cat.

Long time since I came across your name. I saw it all the time when we could trade seeds between the USA and Ireland but, alas, those days are no longer.

I review books for a garden society newsletter and have no hard and fast rules but would comment on the level at which the book is pitched, the quality of the text, photographs/illlustrations and positioning of text to illustrations etc.Give price, author, publishers, library code and such basic information as a footnote at the end.

Most importantly is the question of whether or not you enjoyed reading the book, whether or not it was comprehensive in its treatment of what it set out to do and such comments.

From a school point of view, of course, you will have to give an opinion as to what level of reader it is suited, is it practical for the teacher as many may not be particularly interested in gardening, is it practical in its suggesstions for a school - would people have the time and space to carry out the projects given and would they interest the children. Does it have a range of activities which suits a range of abilities.

Here, I've said enough. You will do a fine job.
