After an exchange of emails my publisher and I agreed on a title. My book will be "The Bristlecone Pine Book -- A Natural History of the World's Oldest Trees". I recently survived the trauma of a thorough edit. The editor's queries were numerous, and her suggestions (dicta?) were often off the mark because she has no botanical background. But she made many very good structural suggestions and we worked it out. Now she is putting it all together.

Amazingly, this publisher (Mountain Press in Missoula) is not hesitant to use lots of color, so there will be ample color photos illustrating points made in the text, even though this is no coffee-table book. We are aiming for publication in the Fall, or should I say Autumn?
