Hi all,

I just got a positive response to a query, and am hammering out payment and rights. I've never written for a web based magazine before, though. What is the online version of first serial rights? Does anyone have any good resources for writers in the online market?

Make sure the contract specifies WHERE (the URL) and for how long, and says that you reserve all other rights to the work. Make sure you have settled the matter of what to do for anthologies, etc.

Nettle, congrats to you.

I am going to assume that Fair Use would be the primary purpose for duplicating your article.

Will the website be able to provide you with (minimal) documentation of page views and/or downloads if or when there is a PDF Fair Use version available?

Having the numbers at hand will be very good when you promote yourself to other venues.
