| Hi Trey,
I love my worms--they're very important in my garden beds and they're equally important to the health of my lawn. What is the best way to foster and maintain a growing population of worms under my lawn? TIA, Trudi |

| Trudi, I'm so glad you asked that question. I mainly grow daylilies but have several other perineals. I want to encourage worms in my garden and lawn. Anxious to learn the answer. Marilyn |

| Hi Marilyn! I believe--as so many of us do--that worms are sign of a heathy ecosystem. They tunnel and aerate soil, they leave behind their little worm "poopies" which are a gentle fertilizer. The more you have the more you can get--as long as you maintain a compatible environment for them. %T |

| So which worms are you talking about? I have the earthworms naturally in my regular (clay) soil, but have the red wigglers in my compost. Do you dump the compost worms and all into/on the garden, reserving a few for a new batch, or do yoou sift the red wigglers out for as new compost batch? TIA Nancy |

| I've read that red worms won't survive long in garden soil so I try to save as many as possible for the newly started worm box. There are always quite a few that get in the garden in spite of my best efforts. |
