How to fix 'stripes' in lawn

I used a push type broadcast spreader and put out an late spring weed/feed type product.

What first appeared (on the front lawn) were stripes, clearly the width of the spreader in which it alternates were some rows are darker green then the other rows. It was very uniform looking (almost like it was on purpose). I went around the yard in "rows" from side to side. Down one row, then turned and went back to the side I started from and so on. every other row is dark green!!!!!

There is really no rhyme or reason for this, as I paid close and particular attention the entire time to be sure stuff was coming out evenly. AND IT APPEARED TO COME OUT EVENLY

What can I do to fix this problem? Since it is now too late for "spring" application. I dont know if there is a summer application I can use? or something else perhaps? I do have some stuff (cant think of the name)that is supposed to "green"up the lawn. More like a fertizer type product.
