too much crabgrass preventer

jillcatt

We accidentally applied too much crabgrass preventer to an area in our lawn due to a faulty spreader. The area is now pretty much devoid of anything other than dead, brown grass. I'm thinking of putting in a flower bed there, and I need to know if the plants that I put in would survive, or would the residual crabgrass preventer kill them? I'd rather not replace the topsoil unless I have to.

(These would be transplants, not seeds.)
