Moss/Mushrooms in lawn.

After a very wet spring/summer and fall last year I have this summer been facing a combination of moss and mushrooms in the grass. The moss is 2 different types...one is the compact "fuzzy" looking bright green moss, the other looks more like a mossy green fungus, flat but curled up looking. The mushrooms are small white and slimy.
So far this year it has been warmer and drier then last year.
Any suggestions for control of both these problems would be great.
Ohhh and don't even get me started on the equisetum, it is out of control this year too!

RE: Moss/Mushrooms in lawn.

Moss in your yard is an indication that you most likely have to much shade and/or moisture. Fertilizer will improve your turfgrass stand, reducing the visibility of the existing moss, however it will have no effect on your moss problem. I would suggest if you are irrigating, reducing the amount of water applied in areas where moss has established. If possible I would also identify shady areas where moss has developed and consider trimming or thinning tree limbs to decrease the over all amount of shade. There are a number of products available for moss the include, TerraCyte, Junction, Daconil Ultrex, and Quicksilver. However these products will only provide a temporary solution to the problem if the environmental factors, shade and moisture are not addressed.

RE: Moss/Mushrooms in lawn.

The area with the moss is pretty much shaded all day long...it is beside a shed, that won't be moving anytime soon! Irrigation is also not an issue there, but moisture is...that area seems to stay fairy moist all summer.
Thanks for the help.
