I'm farther north than you. it reminds me of deer tongue grass Dichanthelium clandestinum. The site below lists it as a weed, but it is a welcome volunteer in the sunnier parts of my woodland/wildlife/juglone/deer garden. Here is a link that might be useful: deer tongue grass

It is foxtail. Its an annual weed grass so it ought to be shallow rooted at least. Annual grasses seed like crazy. Pre-emergence in early spring or late winter works but pulling them before they drop seed would be good. Spot spray won't help with the seeds so thats a waste of time, I'd keep pulling.

Am guessing smooth brome. Bromus inermis. Your pictures are great,but I would suggest that if you plan on submitting more grasses, that you include a close-,up of the seed/flower head angainst a white background, because they are crucial for an accurate I.d.

It looks like one of the Hordeum species. H. pusillum is most common in your area, but consider H. murinum, too.
