lawn care question

Hi! I lve in Clarksville Tn. Last year We had a horrible drought and all of my sod and seed died.(I bought a new house and the lawn died before I moved in) I started over with Lawn doctor who seeded, fertilized, and did weed control for the past year. Now I can not afford the service so, I am have to learn about lawn care on my own. The temperature in past two weeks has been in the low to mid 90's. I have been watering my lawn every day for about fifteen to twenty minutes at six in the moning, every morning. I noticed the lawn is beginning to turn brown in several areas. Every day the brown patchs get bigger and bigger...am I not watering it enough? When should I fertilize it? What is the best way for a novice like me to take care of a lawn I've already spent so much money to save?
