Clearing rasberries & establishing a lawn

Hey Doc,

Happy Labor Day to you and all GW members!

When we bought our house a few years ago, there was a small patch of rasberries off to the side of the house in

an area that no one ever visited. The berries were small and mostly eaten by birds by the time we would get to them and they always ripened when we were on an annual vacation with family. So with the exception of a few berriers, the bushes were more of a nuisance than appreciated.

Over the past couple of years the bushes have been encrouching on more useable parts of the lawn, making some of our lawn & gardens less accessible. Kids don't want to go near it (too many scratches) and to be truthful, I'm the same way. So I always defer going back there to clean up other stuff. Not that it is a jungle, but it is the most unslightly part of our lawn.

I'd like to remove the bushes & establish a lawn. Any suggestions for permanently removing the vines? Herbacide (won't take much)?

Thanks,

Bobby
