Plant ID - Iris?

Posted by jardineratx 9tx (My Page) on

I don't know where this plant came from, but I think it was from a plant swap. It is just starting to bloom....small golden orange blooms on a tall stalk. The foliage is very similar to TB iris, but the leaves do not come directly from the rhizome. Any ideas?
thank you

A type of gladiolus, may be?

Molly, I'm not very good with irises, but the bloom color reminds me of Crocosmias or Blackberry lilies. Just guessing.

By golly, Jim it IS a blackberry lily! I don't know why I didn't think of that. I did receive seeds a year or two ago and I guess a a couple of them came up. I'm anxious to see how they fare as a garden addition.
thanks,

I'd never heard of this lily....it's lovely! And you grew it from seeds? Wow!
