As ever a wonderful thread MTB!

Nice Sam! I planted this pine three years ago, and the new growth is finally showing variegation.

These are lovely, of course! I especially like the Pinus parviflora 'Tanima-no-yuki'. Any comments on M. glypto. 'Jack Frost?' I am considering that one for my wish list.

Sam, thanks for showing us your very nice pics. Indeed, it's Abies homolepis 'Variegated'. 'Silverdust' is the cultivar name of the variegated Cupressus nootkatensis. You made my day by mentioning the true cultivar name 'Schirrmann's Nordlicht'. Please can you show me a pic of the whole Thuja plicata 'Doone Valley'? Nate, it's Pinus sylvestris 'Inverleith' instead of 'Inverlieth'... Greenhaven, the 'Jack Frost' is a nice variegated cultivar which does have the growing habit of the species.

Sam, it's 'Silver Dust' indeed, two separate words. It's a nice white variegated cultivar and even it's cones are a 2 toned! Pinus peuce 'Aureovariegated' is correctly written. Abies fraseri 'Old Glory'

Just great plants, most I have no hope of being able to grow in my zone four. However it's great to see pics of them all, thanks

Here's Acer campestre 'Carnival' with Cryptomeria japonica 'Knaptonensis'. At least, the latter was sold as 'Knaptonensis'. The growth rate is way to fast and I suspect that what I was sold is a reversion to 'Nana Albospica' (see Fincham 2011, p. 110 for discussion). The situation has become a little close for comfort, and I'm afraid the Cryptomeria will have to be removed soon.

Sam, thanks for the 'Doone Valley' pic. Maybe you didn't noticed but there's no difference between the 'Cuprea' and the 'Doone Valley' pics. Your 'Cuprea' isn't the right one, the shape of the true one is more round and will never make a leader.

Thank you, Edwin. Are you certain enough that I should change it in my database, or is there a possibility that my 'Cuprea' just happened to spontaneously develop a leader? In the past, I remember you telling me that that I had my 'Stoneham Gold' and my 'Cuprea' mixed up, so that is why the plant in my first posting is listed as "Thuja plicata 'Cuprea'". Thanks again. -Sam

Sam, the true 'Cuprea' will never make a leader, it's always does have a more or less globose shape. Please show me your 'Stoneham Gold' pic again, then I'll tell you if it's true to it's name.

Wow, Sam, your skill in photography nearly exceeds your extensive backround in conifers. You'll find a career of your liking, I have no doubts. The 'Gelbbunt' shot(and plant!) in particular are remarkable. Glad to have you posting so often, -Will

Beautiful 'Argentea' seedlings, Clement. Thank you for posting! Will, thank you for your glowing remarks; it really means a lot. It's incredible how much help a 5-credit photography class at a community college can do in taking pictures. :0) Edwin, below is a link to the previous thread where you will find a picture of the whole 'Stoneham Gold' and your comments regarding the differences between 'Stoneham Gold' and 'Cuprea'. Please let me know how these comments play into the situation with 'Doone Valley'. Thank you very much for your help! -Sam

My apologies, Edwin. It was actually Clement who made the comments regarding the two Thuja plicata cultivars, but I would appreciate your opinion as well. Perhaps Clement could chime in with his opinion once again. -Sam
