I just bought some Pleurothallis types of orchids from Ecuagenera last month, and they are doing pretty good. Are they easy to bloom? Calgary is pretty dry, but hopefully it won't take too long for them to bloom.

Great plant Ian. I presume this one needs a lot of sun. I grow a few Pleurothallis species here in Calgary too Nora. It really depends on what the species' habitat is when it comes to growing and blooming them. Most of my pleuros need very bright light, cool to intermediate temperatures and high humidity. Here in Calgary it's the humidity that makes it difficult. I have to water mine about twice a day. They are mounted though like this:

ifraser - I think the leaves are very cool! The flowers are not the showiest, but I think it's a very neat plant nonetheless!

Rodrigo - what a fantastic set up! Your plants look great and I see some catts too. Do you mind sharing how your lighting is set up? Do you get natural light, or is it mainly via artificial light?

Rodrigo,I don't have ideal conditions for growing Pleurothallis. They are commonest in the Serra do Mar, which is generally rainer and more humid than here. Humidity today was only 20% at 3 pm. Nevertheless this and one or two others ie. sonderana do grow well here and some are native.
One other thing I didn't mention about this plant - I only noticed it today - is that it has a very unattractive scent of cat's pee. As I said you've got love orchids to grow this one...
