I am surprised that nobody attempted to ID this pepper for you.

But that single pod sure looks like a pearl and it is black too.
Some times plants have slight variations. Crossing is also a probability. I am growing 2 Dundicuts in one pot. They have slightly different foliage type.

lets see if there is an opinion on it.

Pod shape is similar to> Black Prince but they grow upright and in clusters.

Hungarian Black?

Here's my black pearl that came out of the batch of seeds.

The only thing I can think of is the vender had an accident and some variety got mixed in with the black pearl seeds

This is my healthy black pearl that I started at the same time as the plant above from the same batch of seeds

Kind of looks like my Fish hybrid.

Do they turn red when ripe?

I don't know if they turn red. This is the first pod the plant has produced. I kept cutting off the flowers to make it grow more bushy and the plant has aborted a few tiny pods. Will know in a few weeks

I started several Black Pearl, and two plants came out with green leaves instead. I grew them anyhow, and they had those faint purple colorations on the petals, as well. I think my Thai Chile and Black Pearl crossed. My pods are similar, except they point upright.

My mystery plant looks close to Ronny's fish hybrid.

Does your fish hybrid have purple veins and light purple flowers?

Here is the old forum that talks about the hybrid. Some pictures in there.

It is a nice plant, a good producer and the pods get about the size of mini bells. Hot and flavorful too.

Here's an update. The plants first pepper pod has turned red. Still not 100% sure what it is.

Looks similar to Chinese 5 color that I grew. It starts as purple pod and ends as red. But between those you will also see 3 more colors.

These pods start off green then turn black then back to green and ripen to red. They grow down instead of up.

Still a mystery plant.

Ohh, I ate that red pod and it reminded me of taking about 2 cayennes and shoving them in my mouth at the same time. Had some heat to it

I can't really offer much in identifying your mystery plant, but I just wanted to commend you on your healthy Black Pearl! It's beautiful!

I've been obsessed with Black Pearls ever since I found them, and I've finally got some healthy seedlings (4 of them) that I'm hoping stay healthy.
