Need a wild child...

Hi all,

I'm looking for a mini variety that has a wild or species rose look to it. I have a rock garden in the back of my yard, and a wild-looking rose would be perfect, but as the garden itself is petite the rose needs to be so also. I prefer a floriferous rose, preferably something with at least a light fragrance, with some light shade tolerance. I was kinda throwing around the idea of using 'Popcorn' as the pic at Noreast makes it look like what I'm after... Any ideas?

Karen :)

RE: Need a wild child...

I have found "The Fairy" to be a wild looking rose that keeps a nice small habit. In my case I have kept it in a pot. It got about 2ft wide and about 1ft tall, with blooming branches multiple flowers open on each one (fern like) for months. (It also recieved first place for pink miniture at my state fair) Wild roses up in Alaska seem to have a lovely arching branch habit and this rose matches that.

good luck
Catherine

"The Fairy" is a Polyantha, and some of the roses in that class may have the characteristics that you seek (small, full blooms, very bushy habit).

Here are more suggestions: Suggestions for mini w/o stamens showing or quilled petals?.
