How to train Wisteria to tree?

Hi folks.

I have a big old Pin oak in the back corner of my yard. It is strong, healthy and vigorous! It must be at least 80' tall perhaps more (guestimate). I have a wisteria planted in front of it. The wisteria is arching forward fanning out away from the tree and growing like crazy! I want the wisteria to climb the tree to fill in the bare lower portion of the tree. The lower 20' section of the trunk is bare of limbs. How do I train it to that tree? The vine is long and thick with many many trailing branches (vinning out). I have no idea how to do this. I'm thinking I need to screw eye hook into the tree (will that harm the tree?) Then tie up the vine w/ stainless steel wire and run the wire through the eyes. It sound trickey and difficult. I'm quite honestly not sure I can do it. I do have a tall ladder. Might there be an easier way to do this?

Thanks for any help!

JD
